The Long Island Fencing Club continued its tradition of posting positive results.
The Boys teamfencing for Centereach HS captured the Bronze Medal for the 2nd year in a row in the team County Tournament, and the Girls won the Silver. The girls have medaled every year since 2000, with them taking home:
2000 - GOLD
2001 - Bronze
2002 - Silver
2003 - Silver
2004 - Silver
2005 - GOLD
2006 - Silver
2007 - Silver
In the Individual portion of the Counties, LIFC/Centereach fencers stood atop the competition yet again, with 2 COUNTY CHAMPIONS!
Dominick Fazzari is the Boys Foil Individual County Champion
Allison Ratis is the Girls Epee Individual County Champion
In addition, many other fencers made the finals as well:
Nick Quackenbush - Bronze in Boys Epee
Lisa Verzino - Bronze in Girls Saber
Joann Reyes - 4th in Girls Foil
Cristina Sousa - 5th in Girls Foil
Ali Sperduti - 5th in Girls Saber
Danielle Butera - 6th in Girls Epee
The girls ended up with 6 fencers in the finals. This is the most any Centereach Girls Team has ever had in the finals!

Joe Mulvaney defeated last years winner Garret Cervelli to win Long Island Fencing Club’s annual Victor Richie Foil Tournament.

The team of Joseph Mulvaney and Drew Santerello, won Long Island Fencing Club’s First annual two-man team epee tournament.
The event was named for Bob Nelson, Centereach H.S’s championchip winning coach who retired this year. The event was held the last day Coach Nelson was at Club. The event was followed by a small party. Refreshments wewe provided by some of coach Nelson’s students and was attended by some of his former champions. We at Long Island fencing Club will miss coach Nelson’s stories and his teaching expertise.

Long Island Fencing Club’s own Lisa Verzino won the 43rd Annual Suffolk County Women’s Saber County Championchip Defeating Ward Melville’s Joyce Lee. Congratulations also to Club members-Nicole Schirmer who clinched 3rd place and Courtney Perlee 5th place Long Island Fencing Club staff and members are proud of their accomplishments!
